Jo Opie
Online English Teacher
Jo is an EFL teacher, (CELTA, DELTA, MA TESOL), and she has over 20 years teaching experience in Latin America and in the UK. She now lives and works in Cambridge as a teacher and examiner.
Jo very much enjoys teaching and she believes her enthusiasm for the subject and that she genuinely enjoys meeting new people and helping them achieve their goals is apparent in her lessons.
In addition to teaching, Jo works for Cambridge Assessment and the British Council and she is qualified to mark all of the Cambridge exams from A2 to C2. She has an excellent and up-to-date knowledge of exam content and marking criteria.
Jo is aware that there are many reasons why students need English and that each student has their particular learning needs.
All students want to see clear stages of progression in their language learning and to know that the time they are investing is producing results. Jo wants her students to enjoy coming to class. Learning a language is a communicative activity, so when people are engaged and keen to participate their learning is greatly facilitated.
