Resume
Özlem Dushi’s educational journey began in 1984 when her mother, an English teacher, decided to move to the UK in pursuit of professional development. At the time, Özlem was only two years old, but her mother believed that to be the best in her field, she needed to immerse herself in the country where English education was at its finest.
While in the UK, her mother attended various training programs and closely observed the British education system. Years later, when Özlem and her sibling were older, the family returned to Cambridge in 2001. With a vision of building a bridge between Turkey and Cambridge, her mother established “Yasmin Educational Consultancy” in the same year.
Özlem’s own journey in Cambridge took a definitive turn when her mother enrolled her in a summer camp there. Initially planning to return to Turkey for university, Özlem found herself deeply inspired by the universities' campuses and libraries. As a result, she made the life-changing decision to pursue her higher education in Cambridge.
Her mother, always a firm believer in independence, told Özlem, “If you are going to stay here, you need to earn your own allowance”. With this in mind, Özlem secured a job as a “catering assistant” at “University of Cambridge’s Gonville & Caius College”, where she had the unique experience of serving professors—including the legendary “Stephen Hawking” Working in such an intellectual atmosphere further strengthened her passion for academia.
What started as a simple summer camp experience soon became a lifelong educational journey. Under the guidance of her visionary mother, Özlem chose to study “Business”and later graduated with a degree in “International Management” from “Anglia Ruskin University”
Her initial goal was to become a “Chartered Accountant”. While studying, she also mentored students who came to Cambridge through her mother’s educational consultancy. Balancing her “Business” studies with her growing involvement in education, she gained valuable insights into both fields.
Upon graduation, she followed a logical path and joined a prestigious “Chartered Accountancy firm in Cambridge, becoming the only non-British employee at the company. Despite facing immense challenges—long hours, additional training, and high-pressure environments—she proved herself and excelled in the role.
However, her success in finance led her to a profound realization: “this was not her true passion”
She recalled how happy she felt while helping students through her mother’s educational consultancy and decided to fully dedicate herself to the field of education. She pursued the necessary training and began working as a “trainee teacher” in nurseries and primary schools across Cambridge.
In 2012, Özlem took over her mother’s consultancy and established **Britannia Schools Educational Consultancy**.
Today, with a growing team of “British educators and educational consultants”, “Britannia Schools” has become a trusted and reputable name in Cambridge, guiding students toward academic excellence and international opportunities.
